The role

Operating out of our office in Melbourne, you will create advanced engineering design solutions, manage their construction, and provide expertise through commissioning and implementation.

You will lead medium to large-scale projects, ensuring precise and comprehensive technical outputs. You’ll work with a team that sets the benchmark, redefines possibilities, embraces innovation and exceeds expectations.

 

Role specifics
  • Generate high-quality design solutions, lead medium to large-scale projects & act as a technical authority.
  • Understand and meet client design requirements from scope documents & project briefs.
  • Produce precise technical drawings, calculations & design reports in line with all relevant Australian standards.
  • Conduct research & validate design solutions, using advanced techniques for accuracy.
  • Develop & test design effectiveness, engaging in peer reviews for quality assurance.
  • Analyse & improve existing designs, addressing complex faults & optimising performance.
  • Provide detailed handover documentation to the construction team, with thorough attention to detail.
  • Conduct site inspections, review contractors’ work & prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Collaborate with project team members to review contractors’ shop drawings & RFIs.
  • Manage project data, time records, and finances, providing regular status reports & resolutions.
  • Adhere to project budgets & timelines, identifying and mitigating risks to delivery and scope.
  • Maintain thorough records of design decisions, ensuring a well-documented process.

About You

You bring exceptional fire protection experience, strong project management skills, and thorough technical expertise. You are confident in communicating with clients and business partners and are dedicated to contributing to our team’s success culture.

You have a strong understanding of compliance requirements, are fluent in design standards, and have experience delivering complex projects while guiding and reviewing less experienced staff. You excel at developing client relationships and introducing new clients to our services. With strong people skills, you can create effective training materials and guide others.

Technically adept, you are proficient in design and project management software, and are well-versed in practice management systems and project management concepts.

Ideal Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (a Master’s degree is highly regarded).
  • Minimum 10 years of engineering experience, preferably in consulting.
  • Extensive expertise in engineering principles and innovative design solutions.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with compliance requirements and design standards.
  • Ability to introduce new clients through network contacts.
  • Proficiency in design and project management software.
  • Knowledge of practice management systems and project management concepts.
