New Senior Appointment
QLD State General Manager
WSce is excited to announce the appointment of Brian McDonnell as State General Manager of our recently established Queensland operations.
In 2023, the company expanded by opening a Brisbane office after successfully operating in NSW, ACT, and VIC. The expansion enables WSce to serve our growing Queensland client base more effectively while continuing our expansion trajectory.
Brian is a seasoned industry professional with over two decades of invaluable experience. Holding a Building Services Engineering degree, he brings a wealth of expertise in healthcare, education, and government facilities gained through significant roles at firms like Umow Lai, AECOM, and Faction Consulting.
What sets Brian apart is his unique perspective on driving innovation and his commitment to achieving socially responsible outcomes for built and natural environments. As an innovative thinker, Brian explores uncharted territories and pushes boundaries. He thrives on creative problem-solving and constantly seeks novel solutions and approaches. Brian is also a passionate advocate for employee well-being and mental health, recognising their critical role in cultivating a thriving company culture. These qualities, combined with his diverse engineering background, make him a valuable addition to our team.
When Brian isn’t pushing the boundaries of engineering, he’s avidly supporting his favourite sports teams: the Irish Rugby Team, the Chicago Bulls, and Liverpool FC.
Brian’s appointment is a strategic move by WSce to elevate service delivery and deepen client engagement across key sectors. His leadership instils confidence in stakeholders about the promising future of the company’s Queensland presence, marking a significant step in our growth strategy.
Newly appointed Queensland Director Tom Wise, who led the hire, expressed his anticipation and excitement about the opportunities Brian’s appointment brings: “With sustainable ideas to grow Queensland’s building services capacity in civil, water, utilities, fire, and hydraulic services, we are positioned to enhance our offerings without diluting quality. Our new office allows clients to experience WSce’s engineering prowess, client focus, and outstanding service. I eagerly look forward to working closely with Brian McDonnell, Paul Angus, and our clients to leverage these opportunities effectively.”
Sharing his palpable excitement, Brian reiterated WSce’s deeply ingrained culture of dedication to delivering engineering solutions of the highest calibre: “With an emphasis on upholding impeccable quality and consistently exceeding benchmarks, WSce has solidified its reputation as a trusted partner on numerous landmark infrastructure projects. This pursuit of excellence fuels my optimism about leading our growth in Queensland.”
Michael Cahalane, WSce’s Managing Director, expressed his optimism about the company’s expansion in Queensland: “The thriving construction industry in Queensland offers a significant opportunity for WSce to reinforce our regional presence with our distinctive, multidisciplinary services. Under Brian’s leadership, we are well-positioned to drive our growth strategy forward. Brian’s extensive network of local industry partnerships will be crucial as he leads our efforts to expand our footprint in the state.”
