Cricket Central
Cricket Central, the recently inaugurated $60 million facility at Wilson Park in Sydney Olympic Park, serves as the new headquarters for Cricket NSW.
Overview
Unveiled in August 2022, this cutting-edge venue boasts an International Cricket Council compliant oval, 15 indoor nets (available for public hire), 43 outdoor turf lanes, a fully-equipped gym, 16 meeting rooms, an outdoor terrace, amphitheatre, lecture theatre, and a state-of-the-art Sports Science Sports Medicine facility.
The latter includes medical rooms, physiotherapy services, rehabilitation areas, aquatic recovery spaces, and nutritionist facilities. Additionally, Cricket Central houses the administrative offices for Cricket NSW. With its First-Class ground, the venue is set to host elite-level matches, including fixtures of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).
Our role
WSce was engaged to undertake feasibility studies for the development. WSce conducted a comprehensive precinct services audit to assess existing infrastructure and potential impacts on the development. Establishing effective communication channels with relevant infrastructure owners, WSce compiled a detailed report, documenting impacts, agreements with authorities, and concept designs for connections and adjustments. The servicing strategy report served as a foundation for subsequent detailed designs, with WSce also providing high-level design and construction costings, along with indicative timelines for approvals.
Throughout the construction phase, WSce continued to contribute by offering peer reviews of design documentation, ensuring the project’s success from inception to realisation.
