John Hunter Health & Innovation Precinct
WSce initiated involvement in the precinct via Health Infrastructure, conducting Master Plan assessments and due diligence. Schematic Design for competitive tendering followed, facilitating construction post-contract award to Multiplex.
Overview
John Hunter is one of the most utilised healthcare campuses in NSW. It has one of the busiest Emergency Departments, trauma centres and public hospital neurosurgery units in the state. The redevelopment of the John Hunter and John Hunter Children’s Hospitals delivers a significant expansion providing additional capacity and purpose-built infrastructure, to enable the implementation of contemporary models of care. The project includes an interim expansion of the existing Emergency Department to relieve current pressure.
Our role
WSce began our engagement on the precinct through Health Infrastructure, where we investigated several Master Plan options and undertook significant due-diligence work to identify the compliance and performance limitations of existing plant and equipment. We completed Schematic Design documents under this engagement to allow a competitive Head Contractor tender. Post the contract award to Multiplex, we worked with the fire and hydraulic trade contractors to complete the design and enable the commencement of construction.
