St Leonards Health Organisations Relocation
The consolidation of eleven government departments into a purpose-built facility.
Overview
The St Leonards Health Organisations Relocation (SHOR) project involved the construction of a 27,000m2 commercial building in Sydney’s lower North Shore, offering PCA A-grade office space across 10 levels with large floorplates. This purpose-built metropolitan office co-locates 11 government departments, aiming to shape the future of health delivery in NSW.
The project encompassed demolishing several buildings, including hazardous materials removal, relocation and augmentation of services, constructing a PCA A-grade office building, integrated fitout for the Ministry of Health and other health entities, and creating an outdoor forecourt with landscaping, pedestrian links, and an access road.
Our role
Our role in the project encompassed a wide range of services, including stormwater drainage design compliant with council requirements, the implementation of Water Sensitive Urban Design principles, and the development of engineering calculations and design mark-ups. We also managed the deviation and decommissioning of existing private stormwater infrastructure within the proposed building footprint and designed erosion and sediment control measures to mitigate environmental impacts.
Additionally, our responsibilities extended to detailed roadway design, covering approximately 75 meters of new roadway, pavement design for both the roadway and external non-trafficable areas, and the development of line-marking and signage plans.
WSce scope of works included Fire and Hydraulic Services peer review of the design finalisation that was completed by the trade contractors and ongoing site supervision during the construction and commissioning phases.
During the works we also undertook some consulting to RNSH on some temporary COVID spaces. Our Water Service Coordination team were involved and resolved water supply issues with Sydney Water to allow the construction program to avoid delay.
Furthermore, our civil engineering services covered stormwater drainage, on-site detention, erosion and sediment control, bulk earthworks, cut and fill operations, and traffic control devices. We also managed the extension of Sydney Water sewer lines, spanning 270 meters in length.
