WSce Gains DISP Membership
WSce has successfully obtained membership in the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP), demonstrating our ability to meet the security requirements necessary for supporting Defence organisations. The DISP is a crucial initiative that supports industry in enhancing security measures when engaging with Defence.
As a membership-based program, DISP serves as a key control within the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF); a principles-based framework that fosters a progressive, protective security culture, that ensures the Government’s substantial investment in Defence capability is appropriately protected. It emphasises understanding and managing risks, ultimately leading to robust security outcomes.
DISP membership is awarded only to organisations that satisfy stringent criteria in governance, security personnel, physical security, and information and cyber security.
By achieving DISP membership, WSce demonstrates its alignment with these essential principles and its commitment to maintaining the highest security standards in the defence industry.
“This membership demonstrates our commitment to national security and readiness to tackle complex challenges in an increasingly digital world,” stated Managing Director Michael Cahalane. “It enables us to work directly with sensitive information and assets managed by the Australian Defence Force, intelligence agencies, and law enforcement organisations.”
Cahalane continued, “It empowers us to build robust security defences and provide the highest level of protection for our Australian customers, vendors, and partners.”
WSce is a 100% Australian-owned engineering consulting firm with offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney. We specialise in civil, infrastructure, water engineering, and fire and hydraulic services. While we have operated under high-security standards for some time, DISP membership formally recognises our ability to meet the security requirements of defence, government entities, and leading industry partners in Australia and overseas.
This membership cements WSce’s commitment to delivering innovative specialist consulting engineering capabilities within a defence-standard security environment, strengthening our value to Australian and global defence supply chains as a dynamic and trusted sovereign industry partner.
Australian Industry & Defence Network
The DISP application process involved identifying and managing security and cyber risks, extensive team training, and developing security policies.
WSce acknowledges the crucial support of the Australian Industry & Defence Network (AIDN) in achieving this milestone. Our participation in AIDN’s Defence Ready Seminar Series and the Defence Industry Security Program Membership System pilot project was instrumental in preparing for and obtaining DISP membership.
Through AIDN, WSce had the distinct honour of being one of just 25 businesses hand-selected from thousands of applicants to participate in the DISP Membership System pilot project. This initiative involved developing and implementing the DISP Membership Portal (DMP) and the DISP Membership System (DMS), allowing us to contribute to and benefit from cutting-edge advancements in defence industry security processes.
“Achieving DISP membership marks a significant milestone in WSce’s growth and opens up a wide variety of opportunities, which we have already begun exploring with the Commonwealth and Defence primes,” said WSce National Head of Strategy and Growth, Paul Angus. “This is a result of the hard work over six months and dedication of the WSce team.”
